OBJECTIVES OF POSITION:     

The Inorganics technician performs a wide variety of tasks to facilitate production and quality goals.  An individual in this role is responsible for planning daily workflow, monitoring quality of procedures and proper technique, and communicating issues and needs to the Supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

  • Prepare and properly label reagents and standards
  • Complete general laboratory paperwork in laboratory logbooks, maintenance books, standard books, bench sheets, etc.
  • Report results in the Laboratory Information Management System 
  • Properly dispose of samples according to the SOP
  • Clean and maintain in good working order any laboratory instrumentation (pH meters, pipettes, etc.) assigned to you
  • Communicating workload status and any data quality issues to supervisor
  • Assisting supervisor in determining sources of problems (Corrective Actions Reports)
  • Implementing corrective actions to resolve those issues
  • Other duties as determined by your supervisor

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds using correct and safe lifting techniques
  • Must be able to work in refrigerated storage areas for short periods of time
  • Must be able to wear all PPE required for the position

PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS:

  • Working knowledge of laboratory methods for inorganic and preparation methods, or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel
  • Willingness to learn our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Self-directed; goal and outcome driven
  • Have good interpersonal and teamwork skills
